David Goldie works with senior management in the energy industry to develop new strategic directions and to advise them on long-term resource investments. An industry executive for over 30 years, he has experience across the full spectrum of the energy value chain including planning and governance, business development, economic analysis, refining, upstream operations and development, international business, and exploration and risk assessment.
Previously, Goldie led the business development and planning functions in Marketing, Products, and Transportation group at Cenovus Energy, a Canadian integrated oil company that spun off from Encana Corporation in 2009. In this role, he developed strategies to maximize the value of Cenovus’s bitumen along the integrated value chain. Earlier at Cenovus, Goldie was vice president of the Pelican Lake asset, which produces heavy oil through enhanced oil recovery utilizing polymer flooding.
At Encana prior to the Cenovus spinoff, Goldie held senior positions including Exploration VP, Foothills Division; VP, Planning and Business Development, International Division; and VP Refining, Planning, and Business Development, Oilsands Division. While at Oilsands, he led teams in planning and analysis for steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) projects as well as governance for SAGD and refining joint ventures with ConocoPhillips. He was a member of the steering committee for the Wood River Refinery heavy oil expansion project.
Goldie holds a bachelor’s degree in earth science from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from the University of Calgary. He joined SDG in 2016 as a principal consultant and is affiliated with the firm’s Calgary office.
